#WeekendCoffeeShare -Lego and 1 second everyday

Sim Rhio drinking coffee

If we were having coffee, whilst sat in my living room, surrounded by Lego everywhere so watch your step(!), I’d tell you that I’ve had a pretty good week overall. When you’re struggling mentally, it’s really important to focus on the day to day, but at the same time, it’s important to look at how you are overall. I had a couple of bad days in the early week, but overall, I can see that I am better than I was last week and I am hoping to get discharged this week from the Home Treatment Teams care.

My daughter and I went into town early in the week, despite the fact I was struggling, with the aim of refilling our art supplies, but unfortunately all of the art shops seemed to be sold out of normal sized canvasses. We had a choice between very big or very small, so a bit pointless for us. Nothing that eBay couldn’t fix for us when I got home, but I’m still waiting on delivery or I would be sharing the art we did this week! We also had lunch and added another Lego set to our collection. My daughter bought a Lego supermarket with her Easter money and I bought two minifigures from series 15.

Yay a new supermarket to do our grocery shopping! 🙂

We had a lot of fun putting the Lego set together, and playing make believe with the characters. I think I have more fun with Lego now, than I did when I was a kid. I’ve been really enjoying sharing Lego photos on Instagram, and think that Wordless Wednesday will always have plenty of pictures for the foreseeable future.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that, it’s now April and I’m still taking part in my new years resolution. This definitely has to be some kind of record for me, usually by the end of February I’ve given up. My resolution is to take part in a video project called One Second Everyday, and I have three months worth of one second everyday videos so far. I just finished mashing March together last night. I’ve been really enjoying it, and I’ve found that I usually have too many seconds that I want to share for the day, even when the day was tough or I was struggling. I have lots of seconds everyday that make me happy, and sometimes choosing one solitary second is hard. It’s kind of like the 100 happy days project that started a few years ago, however, video is much better for memory recall. I remember the entire day from one second of a clip and of course, at the end I’ll just have one video, instead of 100 pictures. I’m really looking forward to the end of the year when I’ll have 365 seconds of my entire year and I definitely will be sharing it here on my blog. If you like the idea, and want to take part, check out the, 1 Second Everyday, app on the app store. I decided to start my year on January 1st, but a lot of people usually start their year on their birthday which is a really good idea. It’s made me look a lot differently at my life, and I’ve realised how precious the tiny moments really are to me.

If we were having coffee I’d be asking you if you watch The Walking Dead, and wondering if you are as nervous as me! I have to wait until Monday to watch it because I live in the UK, and I wish I could watch it right now, but at the same time am worried about it ending because I’ve exhausted a lot of the TV programmes on Netflix. What am I going to watch when it’s over?
I’ve also been playing The Sims 4 this week as I bought the Get Together DLC. That’s going to be one of my near future posts though because my game has been pretty hilarious so far.

I’ve been really enjoying blogging more often. I used to wait until I had enough comics, but I haven’t quite figured out how to complete them faster yet whilst keeping the same quality. They take me hours. I’m a bit of a perfectionist with the line work and due to my poor motor skills due to my psychiatric medications, I often draw the same line or segment over and over again until it’s “perfect”. I decided though that this blog is about me, and drawing comics is just one part of my personality and I just cannot keep to one topic. I’ve tried having different blogs for different subjects (as I read somewhere that you should just blog about one topic) but I get bored so easily doing that and I prefer reading blogs that have lots of different things going on.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and thanks for having coffee with me. I’d like to give a shoutout to Diana from Part Time Monster who hosts the weekend coffee share, for the mention in the Daily Post. I look forward to seeing more weekend coffee share posts in my reader and meeting more of the coffee share crew!

  1. This was a nice read :].

I don’t like blogging about one topic either. I know the majority of my content is about gaming, but I do write about movies, sports, and even music from time to time. Unfortunately I haven’t had much time to catch up on the Walking Dead, but since my mom is getting the kids later today I’ll have some time to sit back and relax and maybe catch up on some TV shows.

    • I tried writing about just gaming as you probably remember, but the problem with that is there are loads of quiet months between June and November, and then November is super busy! I’ve always really liked your blog. 😀
I recommend catching up on The Walking Dead, it’s been a pretty busy season. 🙂

      • Thanks for the kind words :].

You’re right about the quiet months with gaming. I usually write about random things like which Warframe I’m trying to farm or I’ll get creative and post my favorite Disney songs :].

I’ve always loved reading your blog too and I apologize for not being more active on your blog. I have four kids and being a dad takes up just about all of my free time.

      • I’m in the same boat as you so no need to apologise, it’s only been the last few weeks I’ve been blogging more regularly. I only have the one kid but I’m a single mum! Somedays I’ve planned to blog and/or read other blogs but it’s pretty hard to plan stuff when you have kids, it’s usually those days where she’s like, “I need x, y and z for school tomorrow”. It must be extremely busy with 4! 🙂

      • I’m always busy with four kids :].

I love it though. My oldest kid is turning 7 while my youngest is only a year old. I usually write the most on weekends because that’s when they’re at their grandma’s house :]

      • Same here, my kid usually goes out for the day on Saturdays, but usually I use that time to catch up on cleaning or ironing or whatever. I’ve decided I should have some me time and blog and catch up on blogs instead though. Cleaning can wait! 😀

      • Cleaning is a full time job when you have kids :]. When they’re all finally sleeping I help my wife clean the house and by the time we’re done we’re too tired to do anything fun so we just go to sleep :].

  2. I’m sorry you didn’t get the art supplies. I hope the ones you ordered arrive soon. I haven’t been much in a drawing/painting state for a while, but when I ma I need to have the supplies ready.

The One Second Everyday sounds like a great project! With all of the stuff I’m doing I don’t know if I’ll have a chance to check it out, It’s great that you’re keeping up with it. Time goes by so quickly, to capture just a little of it is great.

Have a great weekend a good week!

    • I too, usually always check we have supplies after we’re done painting just so I have what I need already there as soon as the painting mood hits me. I thought I had two canvasses left, but upon opening them, one of them had a hole right through the middle! I bought them in a shop too so can’t blame delivery.

I thought it was important to capture this year in video, as my daughter will be going to high school in September. One second everyday is perfect for me. I’d love to do the A to Z challenge but I don’t think I could commit that much time. Love reading other peoples posts though 🙂
Thank you, you too. Thanks as always for having coffee with me 🙂

  4. Alright, you asked…YES, I am super nervous about the season finale of The Walking Dead! Every episode this season has been phenomenal, leaving me with my mouth agape and my heart pounding at the end! I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it’s going to be good and probably so very bad at the same time because…that’s how it goes, right?!

Now, good luck with your supplies! Hope they show up quick for you so you can follow your inspiration 🙂

Hope you have a lovely weekend and week ahead!

    • Yes it has been a really good season overall, I’ve been on the edge of my seat a few times! I’m worried about D… I love him. Haha.
Thank you, I’m sure they’ll be here soon, I can’t wait to have a painting day with my little one, we love it so much! 😀
Hope you have a great weekend too, and good luck and warm wishes for the week 🙂

  6. I am myself back to the drawing/painting lately, and it does so much good! I am sorry to hear that you have not received your art supplies yet. I do hope that they get there soon!
I love your 1 second a day project. But aren’t you be filming all the time when you are living through a great moment?
Have a great weekend, and a good week!

    • It does do so much good, it’s so therapeutic. I love painting and it’s great that my daughter loves it too.
The great thing about one second everyday, is that you’re not filming through the entire moment, just one second of it. For instance, my daughters birthday, I only videoed her blowing out the candles, and because it’s just for a second, I don’t have to keep my eyes on the screen, to check that I’m not shaking, or to keep everything in the frame.
I used to video a lot when my daughter was smaller, but you’re right, I felt like I was missing out on life, seeing it all behind a screen. Imagine if at a concert, people only captured one second of the concert instead of holding their phones up for the entire thing, I think everyone would have more fun 😀
Hope you have a great weekend and a great week too! 🙂

  8. My site used to be a niche site (one thing), my fanfiction writing but I found that once my muse left the building, probably and country, that I wasn’t updating nearly as often as I wanted to since I wasn’t writing.
I branched out into reviewing others work, passing on book reviews by others and doing my own book reviews so the focus has altered slightly, but it’s still a niche site and there are MANY sites about books and related articles.
I have another site which isn’t as popular right now but it’s where I blow off steam and do challenges and link parties as well as random pictures and blog posts which have absolutely nothing to do with reading.
For my own self I prefer the sites which offer a little bit of a lot of different stuff over a site which is dedicated to only one thing.
The1 second every day sounds interesting but somehow I don’t think people would be as interested in factory work or what I do online, lol, since those two things take up the majority of my time although I do get some awesome sunrise and wildlife pictures at work.

    • I have had that issue with 1 second everyday. I spend a lot of time online, or gaming, so some of my clips are just of me playing a game and I’ve been trying to find super creative ways to show my online life, because it’s just as important to me as my offline life. There are times I can’t even go outside because of health issues to make super interesting clips. I watched other peoples one second everyday, and they are usually travellers, so theirs are always super interesting and different. However, I decided that I wanted to do it for me and my little one, because remembering the year I had is important to me. I expect I’ll upload it to YouTube privately just so I can share it here, but it won’t be an openly public video.
I’ve had three different blogs so far, one was just for talking about eating disorders, one for gaming, and this one. I don’t want to talk about eating disorders all the time anymore since I’ve recovered, and gaming is hard to blog about because it’s always super quiet between June to November, so it’s hard to find anything to post during that time.
Where is your other site situated?
Thanks for stopping by, 😀 Hope you have a good week.

  12. My husband and I generally keep up with The Walking Dead, but we just haven’t this season. I don’t think we’ve seen anything since the end of season 5, though of course we’ve heard bits and pieces of what happens this season. We are both working our way through the comics, though, and they’re quite different in a lot of ways—the overall story trajectory is the same, but the details are different.

As always, love the Lego photos. 🙂 We haven’t been playing with real Lego much recently, but we have spent quite a bit of time playing Lego Batman 3 on the XBox!

    • I have a few volumes of the Walking Dead comics, but I haven’t managed to sit and go through them yet. I’ve been a bit behind on my reading so far this year, I’ve just started reading The Martian.
I love Lego Batman 3! 😀 We’ve been playing Lego dimensions together, and my little one has gone back and played The Lego Movie game again on Xbox. The Lego games are so much fun to play, and hilarious! Hope you have a good week, and congrats again on the mention in the daily post 🙂

      • We’ve been borrowing TWD from our library. There are just so many of them! I’m enjoying the comics, though.

We enjoy the Lego games, too. Little Jedi has been wanting Lego Batman 3, so he got it as a birthday gift this weekend, and we’ve been playing that quite a lot.
