#WeekendCoffeeShare – School Supply Shopping, Tiger friendship bracelet and YouTube.

If we were having coffee, in a cloudy Wales, I’d tell you that we were really disappointed with the weather because it meant we missed the Perseids meteor shower. I couldn’t see it last year either, again because a Wales sky, is mostly a shade of grey, even in the summer.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that we’ve almost finished our school supply shopping! We have all the uniform, most of the stationery, and just need to get school shoes, which are always difficult, and some more pens. Getting stationery is by far our favourite thing. Lil one and I have a thing for notebooks and stationery, we can’t resist buying something when we set foot in a stationery store, so it’s a lot of fun having permission to buy all the colourful and funky pens. It’s still so weird thinking of my Lil one going to high school. I don’t think it’ll sink in until she has all the uniform on. She’s tried them all on separately so far.

She says she’s really excited about high school, and not too nervous, I, on the other hand, am nervous. I just hope it’s everything she wants it to be. She’s mostly looking forward to doing science and media studies. Lil One is currently really interested in video making, and has made quite a few videos. I ended up putting one of them on YouTube, because it’s so cute. She spent quite a few hours, planning, and then making a contraption to hold her phone so that it could record what she was doing. Here’s the YouTube video she made. If you have an account, it would be awesome if you could like the video and maybe subscribe? We have a few ideas to make some more videos.

So cute. She always surprises me with how creative she is, I shouldn’t be surprised any more, but I am, not only does she have good ideas, but she has good ideas about how to make those ideas come to life. Her work is always of such a high standard. I’m more of a, “I think it’s a good idea”, and then struggle to make the idea come to life, or it doesn’t end up as cool as it looked or sounded in my mind.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I have actually managed to make a bracelet this week. I made a tiger for my mum, and I’m currently making a skull bracelet, but it’s a bit big to be a bracelet, so I might frame it. It’s looking pretty cool though. Here’s the tiger.

My mum loved it and was really happy when I gave it to her.

My week, has therefore been a much better week than last week. I’m so grateful for that. We are hoping to go to Cardiff again maybe tomorrow to try and find school shoes for lil one, it’s so complicated getting her shoes, due to her podiatry issues so wish us luck for that. How was your week? Let me know in the comments, or join in with the coffee share by heading to Diana’s blog, at part time monster.

  1. The bracelet you made is amazing! Hope you post the picture of the skull design you’re making. I’m quite fund of collecting “skellys” as I call them. Teddy’s video is really adorable. I am put to shame by kids who are experts on making videos and getting a lot of views on you tube. I guess I just don’t have the patience. Loving the school stuff too (how cute is that pink piggy pouch!) Have a great weekend!

    • It’s actually quite a lot of work to make videos! I’m currently making a 1 second everyday video, and I’ve worked on it everyday of this year so far, and it’ll only end up being about 6-8 minutes long.
I love skulls, and skeletons! I will definitely post it when I’m finished. I have quite a lot of clothing with skulls on.
Hope you have a great weekend too.
Thank you for such a lovely comment πŸ™‚

      • I used to have an app that creates one minute videos of my day and I think I’ve kept some of those clips. Working on an every day video is a cool idea. Never too late to start working on it. I rarely find another person who are into skellys, how cool! I have a couple of shirts and a bunch of bracelets. My pinterest board is my proudest collection so far (haha!) and I only wish I own half of those things. πŸ™‚

      • That’s so cool! I find skellys so interesting. I’m planning on making a few different skelly designs for bracelets!
One second everyday I’ve found is a really positive project. Even when I’ve had a horrible day, I can always find a cool second, or something which has made me smile. It’s made me see life differently. I’m doing it via the One Second Everyday app, it’s really cool πŸ™‚

      • That’s a great way to look back through the years! Neat! I’d buy your bracelets if you can ship them! Haha! πŸ™‚

  2. I saw the video yesterday and thought it was super cute. I didn’t follow because I was pretty sure it was your daughter doing it and thought it might seem a little creepy for an old guy to follow a young girl (though a soon to be high school student!) Perhaps I’ll stop back by and follow.

I hope you have a great week!

    • The youtube channel is both of ours, I’m planning on doing some stuff too for my blog, and our 1 Second Everyday video will go there. She has some accounts now, but is not allowed to use them on her own, so it’s not so creepy. πŸ™‚ I said she can have her own solo accounts when she’s old enough. πŸ™‚

  3. Really enjoy hearing about your week, glad it was better than last week. Love the video too. If we were having coffee I’d tell you I’ve just come back from a holiday in Madrid with friends. I was worried I was going to dip when I came back but actually I feel really refreshed!

  4. Wow, I love the tiger bracelet, the eyes particularly πŸ™‚ Good luck with shoe hunting and start of school! My son starts Tuesday. xx

    • Just got back from buying shoes and it was very successful which is so great.
My little one goes back September 2nd, but I just like to get all the stuff out of the way!
Good luck to your son, and you! πŸ™‚ x

  5. I love the tiger bracelet.

  6. I think I enjoy back to school supply shopping more than my son does, he is only in grade school though. The YouTube video is cute, thank you for sharing it! I have never done anything like that with my boys, but I think they would like it so I will thank you again for the idea. The bracelet you made turned out great, good work. I know that you have shared others on your coffee posts before. Are they made by needle work, or what is the technique?

    • I make the bracelets just by using knots. It’s like cross stitch, but you knot with your fingers instead of stitching. πŸ™‚ It’s very therapeutic and once you’ve learned the technique you can do it while watching TV!
Lil One loves playing with video apps on my phone. It’s been good for us as it’s shown her phones and technology are amazing for creating things/learning things.

      • Knots, okay. Well I have a few to many projects currently on the go, but once I get myself caught up I might try it. I am always looking to try a new craft, and one with therapeutic benefits is a plus. I agree on the learning/creating apps with technology.

      • Excellent! There’s lots of good youtube videos with tutorials, in fact I was thinking of making my own of my own designs. I’ll post on my blog if I ever get around to it! πŸ˜€
